Capello wants injured Beckham to join England squad

    (ANI)

England manager Fabio Capello has confirmed that injured David Beckham has been invited to the World Cup.

Beckham, 34, was ruled out of the finals after snapping an Achilles tendon injury while playing for AC Milan last Sunday.

England still wanted their former skipper to join the camp, but Beckham has still to decide whether to take up the offer.

"We have already asked David to come to South Africa," The Sun quoted Capello, as saying.

"It could well be he is with us at the World Cup. It totally depends on him," he said.

Capello also reminded Wayne Bridge that the door is still open, after the Manchester City star ruled himself out of contention following John Terry's affair with his ex-partner.

The Italian said: "There is still time for Wayne but the whole issue remains very heated and recent." (ANI)
