British audiences were most impressed with the matriarch's kind nature and her long-suffering patience with hubby Homer's constant failings, reports The Telegraph.

Linda Bellingham came fourth in her role as the mother from the Oxo advert while Ma Larkin, from Darling Buds Of May, was fifth.

Chain-smoking Barbara Royle, from The Royle Family, was sixth.

Susan Kennedy, from the Oz soap Neighbours, was seventh.

Peggy Mitchell, from EastEnders, Hyacinth Bucket, from Keeping Up Appearances, and Lisa Dingle, from Emmerdale, completed the top 10 of television mothers according to the survey by Vouchercodes.co.uk. (ANI)
